Driving Courses

As a recognised training provider to ambulance authorities in the United Kingdom, we are accredited to deliver IHCD / Edexcel approved driving courses.

We also conduct DSA approved driver training in the following categories: Medium Goods Van(C1) Drivers and Mini-Bus(D1) Drivers.

Ambulance Driver Training

The Institute of Healthcare Development (IHCD), a division of Edexcel, has accredited FTS Solutions to provide instruction for ambulance personnel in its full syllabus. The programmes described below are the only qualifications recognised by the NHS Ambulance Trusts throughout Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Driver Training Programme I (D1)

The Edexcel / IHCD D1 course is for personnel required to drive ambulance vehicles on non-emergency duties, such as patient transport.

Advanced Driving Programme II (D2)

The Edexcel / IHCD D2 course follows on from the Driver Training Programme I and focuses on the advanced driving techniques required to drive ambulance vehicles on emergency duties whilst claiming exemptions to road traffic law.

Light Good Vehicle Training C1 + D1

The LGV C1 licence category is available for drivers who obtained their Car Driving Licence after January 1st 1997 and wish to drive a van or small lorry which has a gross plated weight between 3500kg (3.5 Tons) and up to 7500kg (7.5 Tons).The D1 licence category is available for drivers who obtained their Car Driving Licence after January 1st 1997 and wish to drive a minibus with between 9 and 16 passenger seats.
