About SIA Licensing
In November 2007, all individuals working within a security role are required to be licensed by law. This includes Door Supervisors and Security Guards as well as other responsible roles in security positions.
After this date, anyone working in these roles without a license will be committing a criminal offence and could be fined up to £5000 or be imprisoned for 6 months.
Cost: £230 plus VAT, per person.
To Obtain a License You Must Do the Following:
- Attend an approved course to gain a National Door Supervisor Certificate (Scotland) Qualification. Course duration 4 days or over one weekend (2x14 hour modules).
- Complete an online (or phone) application form for an SIA license (a partially completed form will be posted to you).
- Send your certificate, application form, fee and any other documents required to SIA. SIA fees apply; £190 before April 2007 and £245 thereafter.
- Process can take approx 6 weeks.
- Your license will be issued directly from SIA.
